I am available to teach specialized yoga classes at your country club or development. Currently, I am teaching All Levels Yoga at Gateway Country Club, Restorative Yoga and All levels Yoga at Bella Lago, Yoga at Fyzical on Metro at 8 am on Thursdays, Yoga at Chicos headquarters through their corporate wellness program and private yoga classes on Fort Myers Beach. Assisting my clients and providing safe, clear, compassionate instruction is my forte.
For the general public, you can catch me twice a week at my new home studio in South Fort Myers. On Wednesdays at 11 am, I teach a Yoga for Wellness Class and on Fridays at 9:00 am I teach a Yin/Yang Yoga class. I offer my students both a deep spiritual connection and the eye of a highly skilled instructor for many forms of Yoga. In addition, I pay particular attention to the individual needs of each of my students.
The setting of my home based studio is beautiful at any time of year. The screened in back deck with ceiling fans still allows for all the sounds of nature including wading birds landing in our nearby pond, the river otters playing, jays calling and my own two small dogs scampering. I will provide fresh water infused with essential oils and quiet yoga music. In the case of inclement weather, we can go inside and practice on my real wood floors. Anyone can take a deep, green breath in and absorb the sounds of Nature.
Yoga for Wellness class for restoring body and mind Wednesday from 11:00 am-12:00 pm
Yoga for Wellness is a gentle class that will have a weekly theme — changing with the seasons, Chakras, and your changing physical, emotional and spiritual needs. The focus will be on clear instruction, holding poses to build strength and flexibility, and breath work. Poses will be individualized for student’s based on their needs and conditions.
I am particularly sensitive to women and men who are trying yoga for the first time to reduce stress or improve their health and may be reluctant to go to a gym or typical studio because of their fear of looking clumsy or not getting the individual attention they need to align correctly or stretch properly. My twenty years as a high school teacher and college professor will enable me to figure out exactly what you need as a student and work from there. You will benefit from my science eye for detail and compassionate approach. Poses will be broken down, variations will be demonstrated, and assistance offered. The focus will be on safety and helping students to heal from injuries. Chairs can be used as well in this class. For more information, contact me
Yin Yoga Friday Morning from 9:00 am -10:00 am
This class follows the Taoist traditions out of China. Unlike the Yang style of yoga, Yin does not flow, but rather will focus on slowly and patiently opening the fascial layer of the body. The fascia is the connective tissue that underlies the skin, wraps the muscles, holds the bones together and is the conduit for the meridians through which energy flows. Over time, chronic tightness of this layer causes stiffness and inflexibility restricting mobility and energy flow. Fascia responds differently than muscle and requires this slow approach to facilitate opening. Yin is particularly helpful for grounding, rehabilitating from sports injuries and is safe for all levels. No prior yoga experience required.
