I am available to teach specialized yoga classes at your country club or development. Currently, I am teaching All Levels Yoga at Gateway Country Club, Yoga at Fyzical on Metro at 8 am on Thursdays, Yoga at Chicos headquarters and private yoga classes on Fort Myers Beach.
Assisting my clients and providing safe, clear, compassionate instruction is my forte.
For the general public, you can catch me twice a week at Happehatchee in Estero. On Wednesdays at 11 am, I teach a Yoga for wellness Class and on Fridays at 9:00 am I teach a Yin/Yang Yoga class.
Besides certifications in Yoga Teacher Training (200RYT) and Yoga Anatomy,I am a former College Instructor (FGCU COE) and High School Environmental, Earth Science and Ecology Teacher. I offer my students both a deep spiritual connection and the eye of a highly skilled instructor for many forms of Yoga. In addition, I pay particular attention to the individual needs of each of my students.
The setting of my Yoga in Nature classes at Happehatchee is beautiful at any time of year. The screened in pavilion with ceiling fans still allows for all the sounds of nature including acorns tapping on metal roof, bamboo trees brushing up against each other, jays calling and a variety of critters scampering through the leaves. The wind whispers through the screens. Birds chirp close by. Mats are scattered around beautiful wood floors. Anyone can take a deep, green breath in and absorb the sounds of Nature.
Yoga for Wellness class for restoring body and mind Wednesday from 11:00 am-12:00 pm
Yoga for Wellness is a a gentle class that will have a weekly theme — changing with the seasons, Chakras, and her student’s changing physical, emotional and spiritual needs. Focus will be on clear instruction, holding poses to build strength and flexibility, and breath work. Poses will be individualized for student’s based on their needs and conditions.
Like most women in their 50s, I have been through my share of life and body changes. I am particularly sensitive to women and men who are trying Yoga for the first time to reduce stress or improve their health and may be reluctant to go to a gym or typical studio because of their fear of looking clumsy or not getting the individual attention they need to align correctly or stretch properly. My twenty years as a high school teacher and college professor will enable me to figure out exactly what you need as a student and work from there. In addition, my ability to communicate clearly, my science eye for detail and compassionate approach will help you reach your physical and mental health goals. Poses will be broken down, all modifications will be offered. Focus will be on safety and helping students to heal from injuries. Chairs can be used as well in this class. Yin Yoga Friday Morning from 9:00 am -10:00 am
This class follows the Taoist traditions out of China. Unlike the Yang style of yoga, yin does not flow, but rather will focus on slowly and patiently opening the fascial layer of the body. The fascia is the connective tissue that underlies the skin, wraps the muscles, holds the bones together and is the conduit for the meridians through which energy flows. Over time, chronic tightness of this layer causes stiffness and inflexibility restricting mobility and energy flow. Fascia responds differently than muscle and requires this slow approach to facilitate opening. Yin is particularly helpful for grounding, rehabilitating from sports injuries and is safe for all levels. No prior yoga experience required.
